The club has an increasing number of young Tera sailors who are active in the Junior Saturday Sailing program and further afield in the RS Tera Eastern Squad. 2016 saw a wide range of success with our Juniors participating at the club, locally, nationally and also seeing Josie Ruffles travelling to the World Championships and becoming first girl.
The RS Tera offers a great deal of flexibility with a sport sail that can be easily reefed and then a larger Pro sail. The Tera is a great entry level boat that allows young sailors an easy pathway into the other RS range as they grow and progress as well as emptying easily after they are capsized.
The club owns two RS Teras that can be hired for all club events for a nominal fee and booking through the Office. If you are interested in having a go in a Tera please contact Pete Smallwood firstname.lastname@example.org
Tera Train and Race Report 29-30th April
Saturday dawn with the prospect of terrific weather a gentle building breeze saw 14 Teras take to the water along with a number of RHYC terrors for 4 hours of coaching provided by Hobie Wright and his team. As the breeze increased so did the number of capsizes!
Many thanks to the Bar and Catering.
Sunday was terrible.
Simon Ruffles and I met at 8.30 to watch gusts of 30 knots straight up the river. After much pontificating we chose to postpone for an hour to allow the forecasted wind to drop. It didn’t and after 2 further postponements and a steady “breeze” of 30 knots and gusts of 37 we made the difficult decision to come back another day. The Open has now been re-scheduled for Sunday, 10th September 2017.
Thanks to all who helped and lent their RIBs for support.
